. . . The Profiles

In Order of Appearance. Thanks to Cherry for 80% of these stats! Obviously, I am nowhere near done, so stay tuned.

Lady Takeda Sanjou
Vessel: Takeda Yuiko
Age: ~17
DOB:
Blood Type:
Weight:
Height:
Seiyuu: Orikasa Ai
VA: Jane Alan

High school student by day, the devious and loyal wife of Shingen by night. It is Lady Sanjou and General Kousaka who release Lord Takeda Shingen from his seal and give him Yuzuru to possess. She's pretty damn powerful herself, until Takaya starts gettin serious about saving Yuzuru. Yuiko the girl, however, turns out to have some psychic powers of her own, and is a direct descendant of the Takedas.

Kousaka Masanobu Danjounosuke
Vessel: uh...Kami from Malice Mizer?
Age: 21
DOB: Jan 18
Blood Type: B
Weight: 54 kg, 119 lbs.
Height: 175 cm, 5' 8"
Seiyuu: Horiuchi Kenyuu
VA: Lex Lang

J-rock star in the making, Kousaka lives by his own rules and makes them up as he goes along. Don't underestimate him just because he wears hot pink lipstick. He is a general and second in power of the Takeda Clan, but only on the weekends. Perhaps one of the shrewdest and shady figures in the story, he loves to give Naoe a hard time over his obsession with Kagetora and somehow he's always able to leave any scene with clean hands. >_> A total user and abuser, my favorite character hands down! ^_^

Nobutsuna Naoe
Vessel: Tachibana Yoshiaki
Age: 28
DOB: May 3
Blood Type: AB
Weight: 75 kg, 165 lbs.
Height: 187 cm, 6' ~0.6"
Seiyuu: Hayami Shou
VA: James Lyon

Whoa nelly. Actually, he's a pretty mysterious guy in the anime. As for his Sengoku period life, Naoe was the son of one of Uesugi's most trusted vassals. Due to listening to what everybody else said about Kagetora, he faught against him with Kagekatsu in the battle for Uesugi's domain, a fight that took young Kagetora's life. But, as is the case in love and war, he changed allegiences and became protector of Kenshin's beloved adopted son, Kagetora. >_> I'm not sure when his tainted luv of Kagetora began, but it appears to have been there early on.

The contemporary Naoe is a tall, emotionally-dark and handsome 20-something Buddhist monk, always hiding behind these huge black sunglasses that he bought durring the 80's. When we first meet him, he's standing in the crowd, watching a frantic Takaya try to extinguish spiritual flames, realizing without a doubt that this crazy-ass teenager is the vessel of his beloved, sadistic Kagetora-sama. Even though he desires Takaya/Kagetora's (or, as I like to call him, Takatora) memories and powers to surface so they can continue their mission, he dreads the day they do, because he did something VERY naughty the last time they were together 30 years ago...

I find Naoe to be an incrediblly complex and loveable character, just because 1) he knows how to handle Takaya, the stubburn high school brat and 2) he 's SO frickin patient. FOUR HUNDRED YEARS!!! 400!!! Mirage of Blaze is one loooong, agonizing UST novel series. *quivers*

Lord Uesugi Saburo Kagetora
Vessel: Ougi Takaya
Age: 17
DOB: July 23
Blood Type: O
Height: 178 cm, 5' 9.5"
Weight: 64 kg, 141 lbs.
Seiyuu: Seki Toshihiko
VA: Edward Villa

Well, both of his family histories are pretty screwed up. In the modern age, Takaya's parents divorced. His mother couldn't take his father's abuse so she left and got remarried. Therefore, Takaya doesn't know her well. He only survived by becoming a hardass in order to protect himself and his little sister. The two of them live by themselves now. His best friend is Narita Yuzuru and he's friendly in that big brother kinda way to Morino Saori, another classmate.

During the Sengoku Period, Houjo Ujihide was given up by the Houjo Clan to be taken hostage first by the Takeda (who gave him the name 'Saburo'), then by the Uesugi Clan (who gave him the name Kagetora). Why? Beats me. Apparently, that's how War Lords back then sealed contracts and alliances. However, despite his "hostage" designation, Lord Kenshin Uesugi developed a soft spot for the kid. Unfortunately, Kagetora was forced to committ sepuku at 26 when the internal struggle for power within the Uesugi Clan got hairy. Even so, Lord Kenshin Uesugi entrusted him as well as other officers within his clan with the powers needed to make sure the Yami Sengoku wars did not affect the now peaceful and prosperous Japan. Takatora is a marshall of the Meikai Uesugi army. At the moment, however, Takaya can't remember his past lives, nor does he have full control of his powers... Wonder why that is...

Narita Yuzuru
Possessor: Um... not revealed...yet
Age: 17
DOB: Oct 18
Blood Type: A
Weight: 50 kg, 110 lbs.
Height: 170 cm, 5'5"
Seiyuu: Matsuno Taiki
VA: John Riggans

A relatively normal high school student, gentle, sweet, dreamy... who just happens to have amazingly potent psychic powers. The first story arc is all about him being targeted as the ideal vessel for the badie Lord Takeda Shingen. We're left in the dark as to why he's so powerful and who his Sengoku identity was, but whatever the case, he's constantly being picked on by both mortal high school as well as supernatural punks. >_< Apparently, he has the ability, unbeknownst to him, to end the wars and... destroy the "Six Worlds". Whatever that means.

Morino Saori
Age: 17?
DOB: ?
Blood Type: ?
Weight: ?
Height: ?
Seiyuu: Yashima Akiko
VA: Olivia O'Conner

Your average teenage high schooler, Saori is the comic relief -- the ONLY comic relief in the entire series, mind you. Worse yet, she disappears after episode 8 or so. She's spunky and chatty and acts just like any other fangirl amongst a slew of incredibly hot bishounen. She's got a major crush on Yuzuru, who is naturally oblivious, and has a pretty good time annoying Takaya in that little sister sort of way. You may think you're gonna hate her when you first meet her, but after ep 3, you'll probably like her, too. Not to mention, she's the one the two boys talk to when they want to know some random ancient Japanese history tidbit.

Takeda Shingen
Seiyuu: Matsuno Taiki
VA: Steve Kramer

One of the big bads of the Feudal Underworld, he's the first enemy the Scooby Gang encounter. During the Sengoku Period, Takeda and Uesugi fought a bloody battle near Matsumoto (the town Takaya and co. live in) called the Kawanakajima. That's the long spiel that Naoe gives us in the first ep that threw everyone for a loop. EDIT: Upon further research (read: after paying closer attn to the story and reading up on Mastumoto) , I must correct myself. Shingen did gain control of Matsumoto-jo. But still, anything for my lovely Kousaka's happiness... ;-D

Mori Ranmaru
Vessel: Satoshi Hatayama
Age: ~15?
DOB: ?
Blood Type: ?
Weight: ?
Height: ?
Seiyuu: Seki Tomokazu
VA: Steve Cannon

This hot little number is Oda Nobunaga's right hand boytoy. Ranmaru's the head of the Oda Clan since his master is 'sleeping' and comes into the picture after hearing that Lord Kagetora has reincarnated, despite the serious blow he and Naoe took some years prior. He's a powerful hypnotist and can set a damn good trap. He's disguised as this sweet, endearing freshman who has orchestra with Yuzuru, but beneath that is another sweet, endearing... Ah, hell, who am I kidding? He's totally cool, in a coldblooded, calculating, manipulative sorta way, 'cept for the part about opposing the Uesugi Clan... and Kousaka. That's why he gets the crappy screen-cap.

Kakizaki Haruie
Vessel: Kadowaki Ayako
Age: early 20's
DOB: December 9
Blood Type: A
Weight: ?
Height: ?
Seiyuu: Tamagawa Sakiko
VA: Julie Ann Taylor

You were afraid there wouldn't be any genderbending, weren't cha? Well, rest assured. It's a man, baby. A man! w00t! Haruie is probably Kagetora's most trusted ally (since Naoe is such a wonderful bastard and Nagahide is so fickle), as he never abandoned him 400 years ago like everyone else, but was actually killed because he supported Kagetora's assenssion as head of the Uesugi Clan. His powers are, hm, hyper spiritual sensory, which he uses in the second arc to figure out what the hell's going on. He's not the best spiritual surveyor, but he's useful enough. Haruie's been through a lot of heartache also which is why he's chosen to possess the bodies of girls for the past two centuries, but we don't get to find out why he does in the anime. BOO! But don't worry. The new THREE-PART OVA tells us all about it. Great story. I'll just say this: oh, the lengths these people go to for luv. We meet him one day when he challenges Takaya to a race on their bikes. Since girls rule, Takaya is beaten to a bloody pulp. "I'm all woman!"

Nagahide Yasuda
Vessel: Shuhei Chiaki
Age: 22
DOB: Apr 1
Blood Type: B
Weight: 70 kg, 154 lbs.
Height: 184 cm, 6'
Seiyuu: Matsumoto Yasunori
VA: Lex Lang

*snerk* And here's the bad boy of the Uesugi, Nagahide. About as fickle and snotty as they come -- probably rivaling Takaya on a bad day -- he's the second most powerful member of the Uesugi Clan, with a strong hypnotic ability and his little Buddhist bell thingie that tells him where ukes are hiding. He sneaks into Jyohoku High by hypnotizing everyone into thinking he's Takaya's best friend, so that he can then investigate Yuzuru's ability/identity, which none other than Kousaka alerted him to. Meh, I can't say I like the look in this one's eyes... >_> Sure, he's strong, but he underestimates his enemies and overestimates Takatora and Naoe's relationship building capabilities. ~__~ Anyways, maybe he's got a reason to be a badass. Maybe. :b
